Smart Goals

SMART goals stand for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.  This concept is used in many businesses but should also be considered for life.

The S in Smart goals stands for specific.  It means having a clear understanding and concept of what your actual goal is.  You need to be sure of your goal and lay it out exactly how you would like to achieve it.  If you lay out steps to achieve your goal then you will be able to meet certain milestones for achieving the goal.  Have a clear goal and know exactly what your goal is.

The M in Smart stands for measurable.  This means that your goal needs to have a way to be measured.  When there is a way to measure your goals then you know how close you are to reaching it.  If you have no idea on knowing how close you are to reaching your goal then it may begin to feel as if you are never going to reach it.  When you can measure how close you are to reaching your goal then that creates a positive attitude that keeps you working toward meeting your goal.

The A in smart goals stands for achievable.  This means that you need to set goals that are achievable and realistic.  If you set goals that are almost impossible to make happen then you will be constantly letting yourself down and possibly others.  Be realistic about your goal setting.

The R in smart stands for relevant.  Your goals should be relevant to your lifestyle or your profession.  If you set a goal at work that is not related to your current position then it may also be totally impossible for you to accomplish.  Your goals should be relevant to your current life.  If you have an ultimate goal that is not relevant to your life but eventually you would like to get there then you can set smaller goals as steps to achieve the ultimate goal.

The T in smart goals stands for time.  You need to be able to set a time frame of your goal for achieving it.  The best way to do this is by attaching dates to your milestones so you can achieve each milestone by a specific date.  This will give you a feeling of accomplishment as you reach each date and help you make your goal happen.  Dates have to be attached to goals for people who are procrastinators and people who need the structure.  If a date is not attached to a goal then you may sit around talking about what you plan on doing but never get to it.

Setting SMART goals is an organized way to plan to achieve certain things in your life.  These can be professional or personal goals you want to meet.  When you set smart goals then you are specific about your goal, the goal is measurable, achievable, relevant, and can be done in a specific time frame.  If you follow these steps for setting goals, you will find you are more successful at reaching them.

Time Management Techniques

Time Management and What You Need to Know!

We hear so often that time is money that we often forget what this really means. If you are someone who has recently gone  into business for yourself, or you are simply looking to maximize the quality of the time that you spend working in general, you will soon learn that time management is simply a skill you have to learn, no ifs, ands or buts! The truth of the matter is, very few of us are born with innate time management skills. We are prone to procrastination and dilly-dallying and even if we get the work done, it is not nearly as good as we could make it. If you are someone who is interested in time management, congratulations on recognizing this important concept; take a look below for some tips to get you started.

1. Don’t bite off more than you can chew

You know that you can take on a lot, and you know that when it comes time to sink or swim that you will swim, but keep in mind that you don’t always have to prove it! While it might look very good, taking on a lot of work, it only keeps on looking good if you can actually do the work well. If you are being asked to take on too much, remind yourself that there is a limit to how much work you can do and that there is a lot on your plate. This is a lot better than getting yourself into a mess later on.

2. Make lists

Whether you keep them on spreadsheets or on a scraps of paper or in a journal, you’ll find that keeping a to-do list can keep you on track. You’ll find that if you have a physical list to refer to that things won’t pile up or surprise you. You’ll also find that there is a lot of personal satisfaction in being able to cross things off of the list itself.

3. Take breaks

It sounds counter-intuitive, but it’s true. When you first start working on your own, you will see that your breaks can get longer and longer unless you have scheduled time determined. However, you’ll find that breaks that are too long or non-existent will hurt your productivity as well. Schedule your breaks and abide by that schedule, even if you end up having to use a kitchen timer to get yourself back to work.

4. Organize, organize, organize!

You’ll find that you can save yourself a lot of time if you are not constantly digging around and searching things out. Make sure that everything has a place, whether they are receipts, office supplies or even scratch paper, and you will find that you have lots of time to spend on the things that matter. Time management is something that often needs to be learned, so don’t give up if you fall behind. Remember that every day is a new opportunity for managing your time right, and remember that you can always try different techniques to find out which one works for you!

Internet and Network Marketing

It is no secret that in order to become successful in your business, network marketing is a crucial element. However, if you are just getting started in your business you may not understand the power of networking just yet. On the other hand, maybe you have limited yourself to just networking with others face to face. If either of these scenarios are what you are facing, you are likely missing many critical and very rewarding elements that could bring your business to the top.

For those who have not yet realized the power of the internet, they are still in the “stone age” of network marketing. In other words, they still rely solely upon meeting people face to face and passing out their business cards. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a great method of networking, but there is so much more to it that you may not have yet discovered. Networking is the art of interacting with others in the same general business and exchanging information, ideas, clients, resources, and referrals.

Network marketing is about the same general idea as networking. You are sharing products and opportunities with other like-minded individuals. It is essentially based on selling and recruiting, earning an income on various levels. However, still many people feel that their only avenue of network marketing is the face-to-face element such as meetings within the home, coffee shops, or party like scenarios. As mentioned, this is still a great avenue to continue on.

However, if you really want to take advantage of your potential client pool, you should tap into the power of the internet. Today, websites, emails, social networking sites, and blogs are paving the path to success in the network marketing field. The internet gives you so many different avenues of contact with potential buyers and clients that to leave it untouched is literally robbing yourself of potential income.

The Internet Is Growing

The internet literally has millions upon millions of websites on it. Over one billion people in the world have internet access. Of that one billion people, 90% are looking on the internet for an answer to a problem. The other 10% are simply surfing around looking for something to do. Of that 90%, 80% use email at least daily, with half of that checking their email several times a day. Do you see where this is going?

Can you see the potential here? If not, you are losing out, many other network marketers have figured out the potential of the internet and are taking advantage of it. Several years ago, those numbers were just a quarter of what it is today. Which means the growth has been phenomenal, more than a 1000% increase in the last decade. Ninety-percent of the worlds internet users are looking for an answer to a problem.

Does your product or service solve a problem? If not, it should, otherwise you are wasting your time. This means if it does solve a problem or make life easier, you have an untapped potential of millions of customers. Of course, you have to be realistic, you are not likely to get millions of customers. But the potential is there to at least increase your client base ten fold.

What is your client base like now, without internet network marketing? Probably just a few people around your hometown or maybe in surrounding areas. These people are great, but if you really want to succeed you need to jump into the here and now. Email is instant, build a mailing list of email address, and start tapping into that arena.

Websites are the key choice for many shoppers today, it’s easier, convenient, and open 24-7, it is time to start tapping into the power of websites as well.

If you leave these avenues untouched by your business, you are doing two things. Giving up clients to other people and losing money. It’s your choice.

Sales Motivation

There are hundreds of ways that you can keep that motivation high, if you take the time to use them. Sales require more than technique or product knowledge. A good sales record is 90 percent belief and 10 percent product knowledge. The belief is not only belief in you, but in the product and the customer. I believe that everyone can increase their motivation and with it, their sales.

Record your numbers!

If you want to increase your numbers, start recording your numbers. Not everyone can tell you how many calls made or how many rejections received for every sale. These figures are extremely important. If you make 10 calls, reach 6 live people, make 4 presentations and get one yes, you know that you have to call 30 people to get 3 sales. You also know one far more important fact. You know that you have to wade through three no’s to get to a yes. Now, that makes a no far more exciting. Each time you get one “no” you are one “no” closer to a yes. The situation isn’t any different before you started to track calls, the way you think about it is and that changes your motivation.

Exercise!

You need to keep healthy and reduce stress. A great way to do both is physical activity. I personally know of great salespeople that work out daily. The daily routine started for other reasons than a love of the gym or doctor’s orders. It happened because they know the secret. Physical activity creates endorphins that release and make you feel good. It releases stress to help you get through your day, and best of all it makes you feel strong and ready to conquer the world. The added plus is that it also keeps you healthy so you can accomplish more.

Discuss wins!

Make it a point to open every sales meeting with a discussion on what worked. Let everyone have a chance to tell about the best sale of the week. You can focus on other things besides sales. Those opportunities that lead to sales are just as important. When you focus on the positive, positive things happen.

Focus on inspiration!

Motivational books and tapes bring a new prospective into a salesman’s life. The television bombards you with negative images, just like the newspaper, so fold them up and click the remote to the off position. Great speakers give great ideas. A biography of successful people contains insight into their life and thinking. Tapes offer opportunities to listen throughout the day and may be just what you need to perk you back up. This all takes you back to the genuine force that comes when you focus on the positive.

Make a picture and put your image in it.

Many great sales people frequent high end hotels when they first begin. They don’t stay there but walk through and imagine themselves staying at the hotel. A picture of an expensive lake cottage, car, vacation or lifestyle helps you stay motivated when you put yourself in that photo. Keep a reminder, a copy of a picture or even two, where you see it easily. Focus on the outcome and you forget the problems along the way.

Work From Home Moms

Are you a stay-at-home-Mom? Do you want to earn money while watching your kids? If so, then you should consider options for work from home moms. Such businesses can provide you with the freedom of earning your own money, while avoiding the hassles of working in a traditional workplace. There’s no getting stuck in traffic, dressing up in uncomfortable work clothes, or having red-in-the-face bosses yelling at you.

There are several benefits for moms that work at home. You can wear whatever you want. You can work around your own schedule. Best of all, you’re basically your own boss. These benefits are why more and more mothers are not only choosing to stay at home, but to run a business from home simultaneously.

However, you should certainly be cautious when launching a work from home business. That’s because many “experts” about home businesses are not quite that. It’s important to understand that the work-from-home industry is constantly changing. The most effective methods five years ago may not be the best ones today. Thus, you should select a home business carefully.

When searching for the best opportunity from home for moms you should definitely consider the “wellness” industry. This industry is skyrocketing, while many experts believe that it could become the next trillion-dollar industry (yes, that’s trillion with a “T”). There’s that age-old adage that “health is wealth.” People are investing tons of money to improve their health, and thus improve their lives.

Why should you choose the wellness industry? Here are some reasons:

1. It’s a growing industry
The wellness industry is already worth hundreds of billions of dollars. Most of those sales are related to health club memberships and supplements. The industry’s viability will certainly explode in the near future.

2. Health saves wealth
Preventative products have become one of the best work from home opportunities for moms. Many people are finding this to be a worthwhile investment, as it can ultimately save them a ton of money. Consider the small fortune that you spend on family illnesses. There are doctor’s checkups, medicines, hospital stays, lost wages, and so on. By maintaining your health, you can avoid many of these expenses.

3. The demand will stay high
Unlike fads involving toys and pastimes, people need their health. Thus, wellness products will remain in high demand.

4. Science is improving
As science advances, better products will be available in the wellness industry. This will further boost the demand for certain products.
